This company needed a web application that users could utilize at anytime to send requests for their services. We designed and developed this application to be the Uber of Junk removal. Ease of use and user experience were paramount.

Project Overview
Take it EZ, is a junk removal application where you can request an objects removal with the snap of a photo and a credit card. The web application utilizes AI to examine your photo and determine sizing, distance to recycling and pricing. It’s Uber for junk removal!
Camera or file system integration

The first part of the application involves taking a photo of the object you want removed. We developed the app to access the user’s camera or file system to find a file to upload. This conveniently allows the user to upload a photo of what they want removed. On the back end the app integrates with Firebase Storage to securely manage uploaded images.
AI Integration

We developed the app to analyze uploaded photo’s using ChatGPT’s API to determine their content and object size. The process is quick and easy, accompanied by a fun loading animation to enjoy while everything is processing. The user experience was essential so these loading animations were a fun but mandatory integration.
Stripe payment integration

After details of the removal are confirmed, we created the system to securely integrate with Stripe in order to process credit card payments quickly and easily. By utilizing Stripe we also accessed the benefits of their pre-built security features to ensure ease of use and security while taking a payment.
Removal requests backend

The admins of the application needed a way to view the requests made by the application. We created a secure backend where user’s can login and view requests. As a prototype of this application, the backend didn’t need to be as visually appealing as the front.
Some challenges we overcame with this project.
This is a complicated application that required advanced integration with several different APIs. At the time we developed this app, AI was in it’s beginning stages, and we put a lot of time and effort into ensuring the AI returned normalized results that were useable for the app.
The logic of calculating prices also required some decent math. We created an algorithm that measures the distance from the request to determine pricing. Accessing GPS coordinates at the time of photo upload was also a fun problem to tackle.
Overall we’re very satisfied with this prototype, and believe it’s an excellent model for what can be done with this idea. It boosted our confidence in our ability to design and create complicated web apps, and we hope to expand on this in the future.
Technologies Used
This web application was developed utilizing Angular.js on the Ionic Framework. We utilized the OpenAI API to submit photos to chatGPT for object recognition. The core logic of the app then calculates a price. We developed a stripe integration to take a payment and submit the order to our Firebase backend. With so many complex integrations, security was a paramount concern, that we built in through the entire process.
